Innventiva – Espacio Legal

INNVENTIVA was created in 2009 under the name of IPLawFirmDR, a law firm dedicated mainly to the practice of Intellectual Property and Corporate Law in the Dominican Republic and the rest of the Caribbean. In 2020 it formalizes its reinvention and rename to INNVENTIVA ESPACIO LEGAL, keeping the focus of providing legal strategies to protect the rights of their clients.

Based in the Dominican Republic, it has an international network of experts in the Caribbean and Latin American region qualified to work closely with its clients, helping them to identify, protect, maintain and enforce their Intellectual Property assets.

Intellectual Property

Recognizing that intellectual property rights are one of the most important assets of a business, INNVENTIVA focuses on offering a professional and specialized service in the protection and defense of trademarks and other distinctive signs, patents, utility models, industrial designs, copyrights, among others.

Our services include general advices, conducting searches to determine the availability of a distinctive sign or invention, preparation and filing of applications for registration, opposition, nullity, cancellation, maintenance, monitoring, portfolio management, licensing, as well as administrative and judicial proceedings.

Anti-Counterfeiting

As a result of globalization, piracy and counterfeit products are becoming more frequent, affecting the intellectual property rights of our clients causing, consequently, economic damages. Our firm is the guardian of intellectual property assets and we design the necessary techniques to detect, seize and destroy counterfeit products.

New Technologies

The rise of technology has changed the way of doing business substantially. Our firm has the experience required to prevent and/or counteract the misuse of Information Technology. In that sense, we safeguard the copyrights, image, and privacy of our clients; advise on licenses of use, transfer of rights contracts, among others.

Regulatory Law

Our Firm has vast experience in regulatory compliance. Much of our work focuses on advising, managing and maintaining in the market our clients’ projects that by Law are subject to regulation. Among them, sanitary registrations to insert and preserve in local and foreign markets, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, beverage, and natural products; as well as enabling all kinds of businesses that require permissions or licenses to operate. Likewise, we offer advice on consumer and competition law.

Commercial and Corporate Law

We offer legal advices for the expansion of our clients’ corporations. Our services include the formation of local and foreign companies, dissolutions, mergers, acquisitions, restructuration and adjustments.

In addition, INNVENTIVA offers legal assistance in the execution of distribution, concession and franchise agreements. In the tenor of Commercial Law, our team is steady in the defense of free and fair competition.

Arleen is a lawyer with a master’s degree in Corporate Business Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). She is a founding partner with more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property, anti-counterfeiting, unfair competition and corporate law. She is member of the Dominican Intellectual Property Association (ADOPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA) where she has participated in the Non Traditional Trademarks, Parallel Imports and Unreal Campaign committees.

Laura Castillo

Laura is a lawyer with a master’s degree in Law and Globalization from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. Her professional experience is concentrated in the areas of intellectual property, commercial, corporate and regulatory law. She served as Director of the Editorial Board of the Universidad Iberoamericana’s Law Students Group and participated in diverse national and international competitions. She is currently member of the Education and Copyright Committees of the Dominican Intellectual Property Association (ADOPI) and the Amicus Curiae Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA).
